Daniel Patrick Monyihan's book "Secrecy" should be read and discussed by all Americans interested in the preservation of democracy in the US. Without secrecy no administration can arouse our fears or sustain our military budgets or justify "wars of choice." The utility of secrecy is easily uderstood -- if they don't know what you're doing, they can't stop you.
